Farhan Akhtar jumped on the period film
After toying with a sequel to the remake of Don, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar seems to have jumped on the period film bandwagon, so much the rage these days, what with Jodha Akbar, Rani Lakshmibai and so on. But, as usual, Akhtar’s lakshya, is different. His film will chronicle the evolution of the telephone as a means of communication.

The script is still being firmed up. He plans to begin shooting only next year but the male lead is already in place — Irrfan Khan, who’s trying his best to break out of his serious image after The Namesake. It’ll be interesting to see Akhtar in the director’s seat again and Khan, playing Alexander Graham Bell perhaps?
